Arts College & H.S.K Science Institute is committed to provide safe academic and working environment to all students and its women employees.The previous Cell for Anti-Sexual Harassment (CASH) has been reconstituted as Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) on 20/1/2021 as per the guidelines of Supreme POSH  ACT-Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act, 2013 &UGC, Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition & Redressal) Regulations 2015.

Objectives

The objectives of the Internal Complaint Committee are as follows:

1. To develop a policy against sexual harassment of women in the Institute.

2. To evolve a permanent mechanism for the prevention and redressal of sexual harassment

and other acts of gender-based violence in the Institute.

3. To ensure the implementation of the policy through proper platform for reporting of the

complaints and their follow-up procedure.

4. To create an awareness on gender-based discrimination.

5. To promote a social and psychological environment to empower the women to raise their

voices against sexual harassment in its various forms.

Guidelines

  • The Committee shall meet as often as may be needed and appropriate.
  • All complaints will be dealt with confidentially.
  • Only matters pertaining to sexual harassment and/or gender discrimination of staff and students will be under the jurisdiction of ICC.
  • Other conflicts and grievances if any should be submitted to the respective Grievance Redressal Cells (either for Staff or Students) or to the Discipline Committee.

Awareness on Gender Equality 

Report of the ICC Conclave

 

       A National Level Online ICC (Internal Complaint Committee) Conclave was organized on 29/6/2021 at 3.30pm.on Zoom platform. Dr. Prof. M. Indira, ICSSR Senior Fellow (DoS in Economics and Cooperation, University of Mysore), Dr. AsnaUrooj, Prof. Dept. of Studies in Food Science and Nutrition, University of Mysore and Smt. Sumana, Lawyer and Social Worker from Mysore were the eminent resource persons.

       Dr. M. Indira spoke on the ‘gender based violence’ and highlighted that gender based violence is a pandemic, it is everywhere but issues are different and most of the sufferer is woman. Statistics was quoted to support her views. She also discussed in detail the causes of gender violence as well as means and modes of its prevention.

       The second resource person of the day Dr. AsnaUrooj enlightened about the ‘Role of ICC in Prevention and Management of Sexual Harassment at Workplace’. Dr.Urooj threw light on the importance, constitution and responsibilities of ICC and suggested the strategies of preventing sexual harassment through very relevant slides.

       This was followed by the discussion on the legal aspect about what constitutes sexual harassment by the renowned lawyer from Mysore, Smt. Sumana. She referred to many live cases of harassment and their outcomes. At the end, there was a highly informative and active discussion between the resource persons and delegates in relation to gender violence.

       Dr. Uma V Nerle, Principal welcomed and introduced the resource persons. Miss. MayuriMeti, Secretary for ICC was the emcee for the Event and conducted the Q &A session and proposed a vote of thanks.

       Altogether 105 delegates from 17 states and one from Philippine were part of this virtual  event. Around 77% of the delegates rated that the relevance of the topic as excellent and 22% expressed it as very good.
